“There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify about the light, so that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but he came to testify about the light.” - John 1:6-8 CSB
Remember discussing the lack of prophetic word from God to the people of Israel? It had been over 400 years since the prophet Malachi had spoken for God when the next prophet was sent, and this prophet was who we know as John the Baptist. The Apostle John tells us here about this man, sent of God to testify and witness to the people of Israel about the coming Messiah. To, as we often describe it, pave the way for Jesus to come into His ministry of reconciling the world to the Father. John the Baptist would pave the way that many might see and believe in Jesus through the testimony that John would share.
