“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” - John 1:29 CSB
The words uttered here by John the Baptist as he laid his eyes upon Jesus walking towards him to be baptized make such a powerful statement and impression on many of Jesus followers. The symbolism of this statement, the Lamb of God, the pure and spotless lamb that would be offered as a sacrifice for the entire world, to take away our sins. Some translations read this as Behold the Lamb of God. I personally love it said that way because the word behold means to observe, to look at, to see something or someone. John is telling anyone who can hear him to observe the pure and spotless Lamb of God that will wash the world clean and make the way for us all to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
