“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.” - John 1:1-3 CSB
We have heard the testimony of John the Baptist, that we should Behold the Lamb of God who has come to wash us clean and return us to right relationship with the Father in Heaven. We have heard the testimony of the Apostle John who is walking with the Word of God in the person of Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God. So now, let me back us up to the beginning of this Gospel narrative by the Apostle John.
Here, in the beginning of his narrative, John addresses the fact that Jesus is God. That Jesus, while walking in the flesh with him, is also with God and as one with God, has been in existence since before time itself, just as God. That Jesus Himself is the creator, the star breather, the very one who made everything that we see today, everything that we enjoy today, everything that we behold today. It was all made for us, by Jesus. And then after we, humanity, destroyed what He made for us and broke that relationship with Him, He still humbled himself to the point of birth in a manger as we have studied, and went to the cross to redeem His very own creation back into right standing. Oh how loved we are. Oh how loved YOU are by Jesus!!
