“For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:30 CSB
Here Jesus is teaching about the rest that can be found in Him alone. The rest that the Father makes possible in His presence. This would have been such a welcoming statement to the people of Israel who were without word from God for hundreds of years and being ruled, oppressed by the Roman Empire. To hear Jesus tell them to come to Him if they are tired and worn out, if they feel like they have no hope left, if their burden is just too heavy to carry and trade it for His own, which He says is easy and light.
We too can do this. Not only do we get to be saved simply by calling on His name, but we can then bring Him all of our troubles, all of our concerns, all of our burdens and trade them in for His own, which He promises us will be easy and light. No matter what you are facing today, Jesus is waiting for you to bring it to Him and trade it for His light burden. Allow Him to do the heavy lifting and to make your work much easier to do through the empowerment that He will give you.
