“I will bless those who bless you, I will curse anyone who treats you with contempt, and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” - Genesis 12:3 CSB
Many different areas in the bible we can read about God’s promises to His people and the blessings that He plans for them. This is one specific conversation from God to Abram (who would become Abraham, Father of Nations) where He is calling Abram to leave his father and mother, his family and everything that he knows to travel to a place that God will show him. He says to Abram that in that place, He will establish a great nation from him.
The promise in this passage tells us that God’s plan is to bless anyone who blesses Abram or assists him in his journey and likewise, to curse anyone who would stand in the way of it. And that through him, God promises to bless the entire world. Here is yet another foretelling of the story of Christ Jesus, who would later be born through the nation and the lineage created in and through Abram.
